Yesterday

Yesterday was as good a day as I have lived. It began with me waking next to Elaine and Moe and ended with me fading into sleep by their side. In the morning we gathered up sandwiches, fried chicken, bottles of water and Sunday’s unread papers. Took them to the banks of the Charles River and slowly took it all in. Sailboats tacked their way past under a gentle wind. Loving couples stopped to chat as they passed by with their dogs. The weather was perfect, the food delicious, and the company the best I could ever hope for. On rainy days and lonely nights, at the times my soul is darkest, I will close my eyes and go back to yesterday. It will get me through anything.
