In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, former Komen VP Karen Handel alleges that Planned Parenthood bullied Komen and broke a secret pact. 


Handel is playing an exquisite game of CYA that won’t fool anyone. I keep reading this and asking myself “What reason would Cecile Richards and Planned Parenthood have to agree to such a pact to stay silent about the funding loss?” and I cannot come up with one, notably because it goes against Richards’ public instincts — she doesn’t back down from fights defending her organization. 

Look, the last thing I’m going to do is defend that nitwit Handel but she may well be right about a tacit agreement not to go to the press about the de-funding.  Planned Parenthood has historically worked to keep similar incidents out of the press for fear of losing additional funding:
