You don't care about my picks
Bills +7.5 over Patriots costing 230 to make 200. Parlaying Packers -4, Bills +7.5 and Carolina -4 costing 100 to make 612.64 Hit on both. Profit is 991.47 after three weeks. Damn Feds and their laws against offshore gaming. Taking food off my plate. Not feeling as strong about anything this week. Going to play it safe with a three team seven point tease. Eagles -2 over 49ers Bills...

Sixteen tons and what do you get?
Sitting in a classroom for the next four hours. When I walk out the door I’ll be qualified as a miner by the federal government. My grandfather worked in the mines and fought his way out. Paramount Pictures has put me back in them.

It's good to be invited, it's better to be invited...
Last weekend I was fortunate enough to receive training from some of the most successful Navy Seals this country has produced. We worked on semi-auto, full auto and long range weapons. They trained me in close combat, melee situations and sniping. I consider it an honor to be in the same room as these men; being trained by them is beyond my capacity to describe. So they asked me to join them...

Okay, that was cool
Took tac and shooting lessons with a bunch of real pros today. Played with big guns and live ammo, and did it with the people directly responsible for a lot of things we have done abroad over the last twenty years. Wow.

My you have interesting friends
So we took the technical advisors from our film out to dinner tonight. They brought some friends. They also brought an AR 15. These are guys who say “you look familiar, did we meet at School of the Americas? No? Kosovo maybe? Pakistan?” These guys mention Dick Marcinko casually in conversation. The best part? We are going out shooting with them this weekend.

The Killer Elite
“So you’re a sniper instructor? That’s a fascinating job. How does one get in that line of work?” “Actually this is my first time working as an instructor. Typically I just work as a sniper.” “Oh. Um, so do you like work for the government or something?” “No, I’m a private contractor. Do a lot of travelling.”

That's why he's a movie star
Two hours scouting in a working quarry. Dust and mud everywhere. Walking out we are all covered in dirt except him. He’s spotless. Not even a spot of mud on his boots. Guy can probably walk on water.

The Results
Both pies were very good. Not New York good, or Rome good, or anything like that. Midwest good for sure, though. I’ve had abysmal pizza in many parts of this country so I’d sign for either of these pizzas most nights. Aiello’s had a slightly better crust, although neither of them had any sort of taste to the dough. No hint of that yeasty tang to be found anywhere. At...

It’s hard to say what the best chase scene ever is. That’s like asking who your best ex-girlfriend was. If you can answer that question you haven’t had enough of them. That being said, some favorites are: Ronin, To Live and Die in LA, Bullit, The Rock, The Seven-Ups.

Such is life
My wife is tweeting and texting me from the closing night fashion week parties. I’m sitting in a hundred year old stone cottage in Pittsburgh having a cocktail and watching police chases from 70s cop movies for inspiration. Sucks to be away from the old lady, but otherwise life is alright.

davidroy: Ten years later, we all still remember exactly where we were when the towers fell. September 11, 2001 is a day that has come to define us as a people, and one whose tragedy will be with us always. Stuntman: Well we could have it straight, then a curve, then a hard right turn. Director: Or maybe a left turn… Stuntman: Left is good. Me: Which is better? Director: We’ll come back to the turn,...

Eating D.C.
Friday Dinner: Matchbox Restaurant A yummy pork tenderloin over a potato pancake and caramelized onions topped with stewed apples. One of those dishes that allows you to create the “perfect bite” repeatedly. Very nice. Alas my Wife had the skillet roast chicken and it was dry. The place is known for it’s wood oven pizza and we probably should have tried that, but no regrets...

Why I love America
Was at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum today and saw people of every race, creed and color taking in the history together. A lot of aviation history is the history of air warfare but no one felt uncomfortable, no matter what side their nation may have been on in the various conflicts. A very old veteran broke out in tears looking at a B26 Marauder that he had likely served in and several...

Why I hate America
A group of five people got in line behind us at Ben’s Chili Bowl yesterday. One of them, a woman, immediately started complaining in a super bitchy tone that she didn’t want to eat there. Her companion kept protesting “But it was on Man vs. Food”. Another member of the party grumbled that she and her husband were vegetarians and there was nothing they could eat. This...
