Sitting in a classroom for the next four hours. When I walk out the door I’ll be qualified as a miner by the federal government. My grandfather worked in the mines and fought his way out. Paramount Pictures has put me back in them.

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to receive training from some of the most successful Navy Seals this country has produced. We worked on semi-auto, full auto and long range weapons. They trained me in close combat, melee situations and sniping. I consider it an honor to be in the same room as these men; being trained by them is beyond my capacity to describe.

Okay, that was cool
Took tac and shooting lessons with a bunch of real pros today. Played with big guns and live ammo, and did it with the people directly responsible for a lot of things we have done abroad over the last twenty years. Wow.

So we took the technical advisors from our film out to dinner tonight. They brought some friends. They also brought an AR 15. These are guys who say “you look familiar, did we meet at School of the Americas? No? Kosovo maybe? Pakistan?” These guys mention Dick Marcinko casually in conversation. The best part? We are going out shooting with them this weekend.

Two hours scouting in a working quarry. Dust and mud everywhere. Walking out we are all covered in dirt except him. He’s spotless. Not even a spot of mud on his boots. Guy can probably walk on water.

The Results
Both pies were very good. Not New York good, or Rome good, or anything like that. Midwest good for sure, though. I’ve had abysmal pizza in many parts of this country so I’d sign for either of these pizzas most nights.

My wife is tweeting and texting me from the closing night fashion week parties. I’m sitting in a hundred year old stone cottage in Pittsburgh having a cocktail and watching police chases from 70s cop movies for inspiration. Sucks to be away from the old lady, but otherwise life is alright.

Matchbox Restaurant A yummy pork tenderloin over a potato pancake and caramelized onions topped with stewed apples. One of those dishes that allows you to create the “perfect bite” repeatedly.
